Easy Riding through the Summer

We have had an enjoyable summer of Sunday and Thursday easy rides with a sociable and inclusive mix of long standing Wheelers, more recent joiners and prospective members.

The Thursday morning extra easy rides are usually between 20 and 25 miles long, and the Sunday easy rides have been between 25 and 30ish miles. We also included a couple of more challenging rides over the summer, namely our annual ride to Chester and today’s hilly ride up to Rudyard lake tackled by 14 of us (well done to everyone who came out, particularly those of us who were at the back on most of the climbs!)

We have had good weather on nearly all of the rides, with just a few memorable exceptions when we were drenched! We have had between 5 and 14 cyclists out on each ride, depending upon weather, holidays and other commitments. There have been lots of prospective or newly signed up members on their first Macclesfield Wheelers ride with us, including Bram, Crawford, Karrie, Tao, Carl, Erica, Richard, Annie, John and Steve.

John J and I lead most of the rides, but we get great support from long term regulars like Jim and Griff who have led a couple of summer rides when we have had other commitments - many thanks! Thanks also to Simon C and Alison F for leading the faster group to Rudyard today.

We enjoy trying out new cafes and finding different routes, new cafes this summer were Tatton Perk at Chelford and a cafe at Somerford Park. I will be updating the website calendar over the next few days with our autumn rides, everyone is very welcome to join us.
