Macclesfield Wheelers hosted Round 11 of the NWCCA 2018/19 calendar in Macclesfield’s South Park on 30 December 2018.
Wheelers in action at the 2018 event
South Park didn't disappoint, and the firm but greasy conditions combined with a course re-jig to create some excellent racing across all categories. Putting the Supa into SupaCross, over 40 club members helped on the day with tasks such as marking out the 1.5 mile circuit before 9.00 am, registration, marshaling, judging, catering and taking the course down before it got dark.
Riders came from far and wide and were lured by a generous £2,000 prize pot and the opportunity to test their form ahead of the Nationals just two weeks later. Toby Barnes won the main race of the day, the SupaCross, leading national champion Grant Ferguson into second and NWCCA champ Giles Drake third.
Thank you once again to Cheshire East Council for letting us use the park and its facilities, and the businesses that sponsored the event. Thank you also to members and friends who baked and donated cakes. Overall, we raised £500 for Mind and Ride For Charlie.
We hope to see you all again in 2019.
The SupaCross cannot take place without commercial sponsorship. We are very grateful to the following for generously supporting the 2018 event. Please, in turn, support their businesses.
SupaCross 2019 will take place on Sunday 29 December, starting with the Youth event at 10.30 am and concluding with the Seniors, U23s and Juniors racing at 2.15 pm.
