First Weekend in November Rides
There were three club rides to choose from last weekend.
In addition to the weekly Sunday easy ride that went to Dunham there was a Gravel ride to Lyme Park so plenty to choose from.
First off though was the fortnightly Saturday Club Run which headed to Minshulls outside Crewe. It wasn’t raining for the meet up at 10:30 in the park but a squally shower hit as the ride descended Pexhill and on the outward leg it was a cape on / cape off kind of ride.
The road’s were a bit of a mess so it was a good chance for Rowey to test his brand new tyre’s after his triple puncture fest last time out. Result; fail, fail, ☹️☹️a thorn in the back on the way out and a thorn in the front on the way back. Mind you he fared better than Boothy who went solo at 7AM🤷, double punctured and had to call bike rescue. He should have ridden with his clubmates, he would have had some help and plenty of spare tubes to borrow.
Tyre’s wern’t the only thing to fail, your’s truly’s garmin kept falling off it’s mount. But who needs one of those anyway when you know the route off by heart?. Err well me actually as I missed two turns on very familiar lanes near Middlewich 🤨.
The squalls had past over for the return leg and there was a helpful tailwind. Despite the minor failings overall it was an excellent outing with fourteen of us enjoying a relaxed pace and chatty ride. Next time out in two weeks may be the downhill freewheel competition, don't miss it, see you all then.
