Summer Saturday Club Run

There’s been a club run of one sort or another on now every Saturday since April

The last one was a hilly one to the Cow Shed Cafe just this side of Tideswell and a good turnout of nearly thirty including some new to it, some not so new (quite old really 🥸), some returning (good 🤪) meant three separate groups were needed. The first two groups doing the fifty mile route were twelve and ten strong but strong might not be the right word when it came to the five thousand feet of climbing 🤨. The third group of five opted for the more direct 40 mile route but still with enough climbing at four thousand feet. That adds up to twenty seven leaving the park at 10:30 after groups were sorted but as usual it was plus one latecomer at 10:32, no names mentioned but it's a long way down to the meet up from where he lives on the edge of Macc forest 😎.

The ride itself was good, for the fifty milers through the highest village in England, Flash, Earl Stendale and Taddington. For the forty milers over the Cat and through Buxton. Nothing goes exactly to plan though, when the destination and route was planned a couple of days before the forecast was for a gentle easterly breeze to be behind us on the way back over Axe Edge and the Cat, instead it was a full on westerly headwind 😤💨. Nevertheless everyone was back on the Macclesfield side of the big hills between 3 & 4 pm with all three groups calling  at the Saint Dunstan Inn for a social recovery drink.
