The Danny Mason
Twelve wheelers went down to Ludlow for the annual Danny Mason Shropshire Highland Challenge…
….plus a thirteenth, Tony from Leek, unlucky thirteen for him as he had a little mishap riding up to the campsite after the pub, couldn’t keep his bike in a straight line and ended up lying in the verge in a bit of a mess, welcome to the ways of Macc Wheelers 🥸.
The weather was perfect for the sixty eight miles and six thousand feet of ascent of the fantastic route, it’s a lovely area to cycle in, quiet lanes, some climbs but rewarded by great views and good descents. The event was well organised by Ludlow Cycling Club with their member’s volunteering at the start, finish and three controls. It’s named after it’s first organiser, Danny Mason, former warden of Bridges Youth Hostel and WW2 paratroop veteran.
The next tourist challenge ride on the club's calendar is Wild Wales on the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday weekend, don't forget to enter; https://www.merseysidectc.co.uk/wwc
