Sunday Easy Ride to High Legh village hall

7 of us just about avoided the rain on this afternoon's easy ride from Wilmslow .

There was a torrential downpour including hailstones at 1pm, but it had stopped by the time we set off at 1.30pm. Martin navigated and ensured a steady 13mph average. I had planned a change from our usual route, so we went out through Morley Green and along some back roads through to Knutsford, then through Tatton Park which was relatively quiet. We came out through the Rostherne gate, and then via Bucklow Hill and over the A556, before taking a left. We arrived at High Legh just before 3, with grey clouds rolling in. Refreshments were being provided by the Downs Syndrome Association this week, we soon made inroads into their delicious homemade cakes and offloaded our cash. Mr Audax turned up in the car just after three, having done another night shift. There was another torrential downpour whilst we were eating, so we decided to wait until it eased off. It was so bad that a passing lorry threw up a tidal wave of water which washed over the village hall windows. It eased off at 3.30pm so we made our move, making full use of our waterproofs. The sun was soon back out, several of us started to 'boil in the bag', so some of the waterproofs came off again. Pat and Alicia were both out with us, so there was a lot of laughter and even some singing. We were back in Wilmslow at 4.40pm, just in time to get under cover before the next downpour. 27 miles, 13mph and lots of fun!
