A damp Sunday easy ride to Alsager

There were 20 (yes 20!) out on today’s ride from Macclesfield to Alsager, despite a forecast for rain later on.

There were 17 of us at Siddington, Paul R took a head start, knowing that Radnor Bank was one of the challenges. John led a faster group of 11, and I led a slightly slower group of 5, to become 6 when we finally caught Paul. The other three were Adele, Brian and Rebecca who came past us shortly before Radnor Bank. The roads were wet, and we had a few spots of rain near Congleton, just enough to stop and waterproof up.

Closer to Alsager we came across Brian and Adele, fixing Adele’s puncture. They had sent Rebecca on, and she had caught John’s group. After a quick check we carried on to the recently reopened cafe at Hall Farm, now in a separate building. We timed it perfectly, our faster club mates had all ordered, and there was enough seating for all of us.

The rain started as per forecast whilst we were eating, so we had a damp ride back. It was enjoyable to ride some slightly different roads, and great to have a former destination back on the list! I forgot to take any photos, so will share Griff’s photos of the cafe food!
