Sunday Easy Ride to Great Budworth

There were ten of us out on this afternoon's sunny easy ride from Wilmslow to Great Budworth parish hall.

I led the group out of Wilmslow, through the airport tunnels, and then left up to Ashley crossroads, straight across, then onto Rostherne through the back lanes. We took a sharp left in the village and along to Bucklow Hill. After this point I needed my Garmin to prompt me, however it was sulking. Fortunately Simon R and Simon G both had the route and took over calling the turns for the loop around High Legh. Kirsten and Vinny shot off the front and dropped all of the navigators at this stage. When we caught up with them it transpired that they were chasing down a Griff look alike, forgetting that the real Griff was doing the backsweeper role! Gwen had to head home early so we waved her off near High Legh, and made it to Great Budworth just after 3pm. There was the usual great selection of homemade cakes and a warm welcome from the church ladies. I took Angelo on a quick tour of the village and church to add to his photo collection, there was even a bowling match going on. The other two riders out were Jack, on his trike, and Jim. We took a shorter route back, through Knutsford and Mobberley, and back in Wilmslow by 5pm. Total distance was about 34 miles, average speed was that of the slowest rider, at 13.7mph. We must be getting fitter!
