6@6 Training Ride on 10th September

Nine wheeler’s had another good ride on the 10-2-7 circuit last night.

Keeping to the rule of six we quickly sorted two groups, first off with your’s truly was Dave, Chris and Paul on his first outing with us. I have to say our 4 up worked pretty faultlessly doing 2 minute turns, keeping it at 20mph ish all the way round and carried on up Pexhill where the first one to pop😤 was myself.

We were all back up at Broken X fairly promptly and it felt to me like four of us had probably done the circuit in about the same time as a bigger group last week and sure enough my time X Goostrey X was just 47 sec’s slower. About a minute or so after us the second group started coming in, first Vinney and Ruth on her first outing with us since lockdown, then Andy, Jim who bailed at Siddington was also in that one plus they had picked up Mark B en route to do a few turns making it a 5 up.

Your correspondent interviewed some of the 5 up in the PT🍻 after it finished and (surprise surprise) Ruth and Vinney’s account differed a bit from Andy’s. I detected there group wasn’t as slick but judging from the speed they got round in it couldn’t have been to sloppy.

At the time of writing all the results aren't in but I guess Jill’s status as Queen Of The Circuit 👑 must be coming under a bit of pressure from Ruth. There’s been a few other changes on the leaderboard including in the MV 65 category (sorry Mick and Nigel 😅).

There will be another opportunity to improve and practice some well disciplined group riding next week. The nearest equivalent we can do to the pre pandemic 10-2-7 ride ; the 6@6 ride will be a regular fixture on thursday’s and is now on the reactivated club calendar . There is no requirement to pre book but if your attending for the first time check out the rules which are in the ride description on the calendar: https://www.macclesfieldwheelers.org.uk/calendar/2020/9/17/66-training-ride and contact myself fred.w@macclesfieldwheelers.org.uk. It’s also helpful for sorting out groups to know in advance if your likely to join at Siddington.
