Not Just A Steady Training Ride

The club is now running three training rides / chain gangs a week all starting at Broken Cross.

Monday evenings at 7pm it's the intermediate which was always an old favorite and this week was the best attended since the restart a few weeks ago ๐Ÿ‘. Thursday evenings at 6.30pm it's the steady/easier ride followed at 7pm by the fastest one, so something for everyone.

The steady training ride is suitable for those new or getting back into it and this week we had two regularโ€™s, one occasional and one new rider so not a big attendance but enough to have a very good 4 up. Surprisingly as there was a vicious wind that never let up until towards the end around Chelford we completed the Cranage circuit in record time by a couple of minutes. We were all back at Siddington X roadโ€™s together as a team time trial style 4-up and all back at Broken X within 90 minutes, all 1:29โ€™s for the first time but separated by about 20 seconds each after our efforts up our own little Alp.

Like Chris Froome about three hours earlier even though his riding style is not quite so smoothe (but he is even older) Fred was very happy with the last podium place ๐Ÿ˜Ž . New member and rider Spike was on the second step after riding very well from the off ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ and  might have been further up had it not been for Fred letting Mark Wโ€™s wheel go as he started his turn after Spike as he dropped onto the back. So (a bit) like Piddcock, Mark soloโ€™d to the finish ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช Fred dragged the remaining grupetto past Dark and Bearhurst Lanes, Spike took over again, Fred and Mark B who had willingly been a Wout Van Aert stye domestique at the bottom, hung on then cracked on the last ramp or so before the top.

Have a good weekend social cycling or proper racing and see you next Monday or Thursday to top up your cycling fitness.
