Just a Ride - 2 Up During Lockdown

Although we can not ride as a group at this time we can still enjoy cycling individually or in pairs as part of a group.

You can find the standard JAR route on RWGPS here . Below you can see the route on the OS map.

JAR standard route leaving cenotaph by footbridge and avoiding Lidgetts lane to match the Strava segment

Starting at the Cenotaph in Macclesfield the route heads south towards Sutton then turns west Gawsworth to circumnavigate Macclesfield on quiet roads with a few hills at the end. Never getting more than a few miles from Macclesfield there are always options for a short-cut home. The full route is about 35 km (22 miles) with about 450 m of climbing so takes a couple of hours.

It is now a Strava segment Just A Ride Cenotaph to Aqueduct. This starts as you cross the footbridge over the river Bollin, just after leaving the Cenotaph and ends on Jarman before you go under the aqueduct at the Kings Head.

If you want a buddy to cycle with then drop me an email or post on the club Facebook page.

This is also a great time to give the 6@6 route a try - Strava segment X Goostrey X . It is about 50 km (30 miles) but flatter so again takes a couple of hours cycling on your own or in a pair.

It is looking like a cold week, stay safe, times will be slow with winter tyres and kit. It is an achievement just to get out safely in this weather.

We are also going to try a get together on Thursday at 9pm to share refreshments and cycling chat in a Virtual Park Tavern Zoom. I know it is nothing like the real thing but there are a couple of advantages. You can show off, even demonstrate your latest cycling gadgets and we can screen share segment results and other stuff.

Happy Cycling
