6@6 Training Ride on thursday 20th August

It didn’t start exactly to plan but it all ended very well.

Eleven members pre registered so I made up two groups. The first one with myself Fred W; Rich, Jim, Booth’y and Stockport Dave, the second with Jill who had offered to lead; Mark, Andy, Vinney, Christian and Francis who clearly must have enjoyed himself so much on his first outing last week he came back for a second. Just before 6pm all my group apart from Jim were present and correct itching to get going so we swapped Jim for Vinney and set of ahead with Jill’s group still waiting for a full complement and their leader.

Doing the team time trail formation with roughly 2 minute turns worked very well, none were missed and there was no jumping so the team arrived back at Siddington in exactly the same order as at the start. The only change was Steve L had joined us half way round making it a nice bubble of six and it was good to have another strong pair of legs in the team helping to keep up a good pace as it was hard going at times with storm whatever its called brewing 💨💨💨.

Considering what the plan had been we were a little surprised to see Jill and Mark by themselves going the opposite direction to us on Seven Sisters🤷 . I was even more perplexed as no sooner had all six of our group got back to Broken X, Mark and not Jill but Christian were up right after us ???. Not to worry the other four were all up in fairly short succession and the end result was the two groups actually finished a lot closer than they did last week and it seemed best if the explaining was done over a drink in the Park Tavern 🍻.

I couldn’t hang on all the way up Pexhill myself, no complaints though it was my fastest time so far round the 10-2-7 circuit. We all worked well together and I sensed we are improving. That’s what the ride’s for.
