Summer Sunday Training Ride

Yesterday was the ‘Queen Stage’ of the Sunday Training Ride 2019.

We took on an epic 55 mile loop with 7000ft of climbing incuding Eccles Pike, Peaslow, The Beast of Bradwell and Winnats Pass before finishing up Long Hill and The Street. The route even tempted James out to test his legs following a summer climbing in Italy!

Well done and welcome to Jason who joined us for his first ride with the Wheelers. Undoubtedly he picked the toughest ride of the year but he did a fantastic job as lead mechanic after Dom’s two spectacular ‘blowouts’ and went home smiling (well, sort of). The other members of the group were Jo, Monica, Ben, Rich, Jamie and myself. Overall a great ride.

We have two summer training rides remaining on Saturday 15th and 29th September before we start the winter ride from the town hall. For any riders that aren’t taking part in the road race, please consider volunteering. David Higham would appreciate as much help as possible.
