Lark Ride

Named because we’re up and out with the larks, not because we’re messing about. This is a social intermediate ride of 50 - 60 miles and we try and alternate flat and hilly rides. But we’ll do more flat ones in the winter and more hilly ones in the summer.

We’ll try and average around 15 mph on a flat ride and yes of course we’re slower on a hilly ride, maybe 11-12 mph. We always stop at a cafe to refuel. If numbers are low we sometimes merge this ride with the Larkling Ride.

You can see some of the previous routes we’ve planned on our Ride With GPS page. They’re not necessarily the routes we rode. That’s because we’re always trying to find lanes we haven’t been down before and just occasionally we find that they’re really more of a lumpy bridle path and, while we may incorporate a short known off-road section on purpose, sometimes the best option is just to turn round. Or maybe we simply go the wrong way because we’re too busy chatting to pay attention to our Garmins beeping at us.

Meet at

South Park Car Park, off Park Grove, Macclesfield, SK11 8AS. If it’s raining, we’ll be sheltering in the pavilion.
