The Freewheel Competition for the Geoff Stevenson Trophy is penciled in for this Saturday. It's the one that any member can have a go at and stand a chance of winning, the outlook is fine and for light winds so no special skills required and ideal to do it on the traditional course on Goldstitch Moss after a cafe stop at Longnor.
A 41 mile (its got to be) hilly route is planned but Longnor can be reached more easily if anyone wants a shorter option?
So just for this Saturday, going as fast as you can is permitted strictly from the start line only, otherwise please keep to our simple etiquette of keeping together and regrouping at the top of climbs and / or junctions.
We may have more than one group depending on turnout, slower and faster with a maximum group size of 12.
Please ride responsibly with consideration to other riders and road users whichever group you are in
Average speed 11 mph to 13mph
It’s a social ride intended for a cross section of members and guests
Mudguards with flaps please if the roads are wet, will save you and other riders getting in a right mess
Bring a spare tube etc
Have fun
