Gravel/MTB Ride

Gravel/MTB Ride around Lyme Park and Macc Forest. The route is 28 miles long and covers 3000 feet of climbs. We start north along the canal then climb past White Nancy and drop back into Bollington along Ingersley vale before making our way to Lyme Park. Cross the park from west to east, then climb up to enjoy the spectacular views from Bow Stones. We can have a break at the Fresh Farm Cafe near Bollington before climbing the rocky Oakenbank Lane to Rainow. From Walker Barn we climb the tarmac section of Charity Lane before descending Hacked Way Lane into Macc Forest. We descend the gravel trail and climb the road to do a couple of loops of the forest.

As we’re never far from home the option to come home early, or do a bit more is available.

There are no rocky or technical descents, so a gravel/hybrid with decent tyres is feasible, or a MTB with wider tyres will give you a bit more grip and comfort. I expect to be back home between 2 and 3pm
