ANNUAL COMPETITIONS AND AWARDS

Other than the competitions for which the club knows the winner, we will only make awards if members claim them; we want members chasing awards, not awards chasing members.

Time Trials - Under 16

Barry Lawton Under 16 10-Mile Time Trial Trophy

The member aged under 16 achieving the highest average speed based on three 10-mile time trial performances. Trophy number 25 - cup.

Under 16 25-Mile Time Trial Trophy

The member aged under 16 achieving the fastest 25-mile time trial performance in the season. Trophy number 26 - plaque.

Barnett-Cass Trophy - Under 16 Best Time Trial All Rounder

The member aged under 16 with the highest average speed in 10 and 25-mile time trials in any club, association or open event during the current year. Trophy number 4 - cup.


Time Trials - Veterans

Allen Clarke Senior Time Trial Trophy

The member aged 40+ with the greatest plus on VTTA standards. The distances will be 10 and 25 miles. Trophy number 12 - cup.

Veterans Best Time Trial All Rounder

The member aged 40+ with the greatest plus on VTTA standards. The distances to be 10, 25 and 50 miles. No trophy.

The woman member with the highest average speed in 10, 25 and 50-mile time trials. No trophy.

Women’s Time Trial Championship Trophy - Best All Rounder

The woman member with the highest average speed in 10 and 25-mile time trials. Trophy number 2 - cup.


Time Trials - All

John Peacock 25-Mile Time Trial Trophy

The member with the fastest 25-mile time trial performance during the year. Trophy number 21 - cup.

May White 25-Mile Time Trial Trophy

The fastest member in the club’s Open 25-Mile Time Trial. Trophy number 22 - cup.

Graham Wardle Memorial 50-Mile Time Trial Trophy

The member with the fastest time of the year in any open or association 50-mile time trial. Trophy number 20 - cup.

Club Time Trial Championship Trophy - Best All Rounder

The member with the highest average speed at time trial distances of 10, 25, 50 and 100 miles in club, association or open events. Trophy number 1 - cup.

Philip Whitmore 10-Mile Time Trial Handicap

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed riders in the club’s 10-mile time trial series, in each of the following categories:

  • U16, based on handicap placings - cash

  • 16-18, based on handicap placings - cash

  • women, based on handicap placings in nine events, with at least three on each the two different courses

  • all members, based on handicap placings in nine events, with at least three on each the two different courses - 3rd £20, 2nd £30, 1st £50 plus trophy number 7 - cup.

The points awarded in an event will be 15 points for 1st place down to 1 point, regardless of the number of entries.

Philip Whitmore 10-Mile Time Trial Scratch

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed members in the club’s 10-mile time trial series, based on overall placings in nine events, with at least three on each of the two different courses, in each of the following categories:

  • U16 - cash

  • 16-18 - cash

  • women 40-49

  • women 50-59

  • women 60+

  • women

  • members 40-49

  • members 50-59

  • members 60+

  • all members.


Hill Climbs

Points in the club’s annual Pym Chair and Cat & Fiddle Hill Climbs are awarded as follows: winner 50 points, then 49, 48, 47, etc. In the event of a tie the points shall be awarded to both riders and the next lower point will be disregarded. The climbs shall be timed to 1/10 second. In the event of a tie the rider with the greatest winning percentage shall be declared the winner.

U16 Hill Climb Championship

The 1st and 2nd members aged under 16 with the highest number of points across both of the club’s annual Pym Chair and Cat & Fiddle Hill Climbs. Cash prizes.

16-18 Hill Climb Championship

The member aged 16-18 with the highest number of points across both of the club’s annual Pym Chair and Cat & Fiddle Hill Climbs. Cash prize.

Veteran’s Hill Climb Championship

The member in each of the categories 40-49, 50-59 and 60+ with the highest number of points across both of the club’s annual Pym Chair and Cat & Fiddle Hill Climbs. No trophy.

Women’s Hill Climb Championship

The woman member with the highest number of points across both of the club’s annual Pym Chair and Cat & Fiddle Hill Climbs. Trophy number 11 - cup.

Robin Parker Hill Climb Championship

The man member with the highest number of points across both of the club’s annual Pym Chair and Cat & Fiddle Hill Climbs. Trophy number 10 - cup.

Off-Road Hill Climb Championship

The winner of an off-road club hill climb arranged each November. Trophy number 39 - tankard.


Road Racing

Circuit Championship

The member obtaining the highest number of points from placings in the first 10 in no more than six open circuit events during the season. The counting events shall be those that comply with the governing bodies definition of circuit races. A first place shall merit 15 points; other placings will be on a differential points system, i.e. 12, 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Trophy number 16 - shield.

John Parkinson Memorial Trophy

The first member in the annual John Parkinson Memorial Road Race. Trophy number 19 - cup.

Geoff Oliver Veterans Road Race Trophy

The member aged 40+ obtaining the highest number of points from placings in the first 10 in no more than six open or age-related non-handicap road races. The counting events shall be these organised by the BC, LVRC, TLI or other organisations approved by the committee. Cyclocross

Under 10 Cyclocross Championship

The member aged under 10 achieving the best placings in cyclocross events. Medal.

Barker Under 12 Cyclocross Trophy

The member aged under 12 achieving the best five placings in cyclocross events. Medal and cup.

Under 14 Cyclocross Championship

The member aged under 14 achieving the best five placings in cyclocross events. Medal.

Barry Lawton Under 16 Cyclocross Trophy

The member aged under 16 achieving the best five placings in cyclocross events. Medal and cup. Trophy number 30.

Veterans Cyclocross Championship

The member aged 40+ accumulating the most points in the Northwest Cyclocross League. No trophy.

Cyclocross Championship

The member accumulating the most points in the Northwest Cyclocross League. Trophy number 18 - shield.


Track Racing

Under 16 Track Championship

The member aged under 16 with the greatest number of league points in any one Manchester or Newcastle Track Leagues or open hard track events. Trophy number 27 - cup.

Joe Webster Track Championship

The member with the greatest number of league points in any one Manchester or Newcastle Track Leagues or open hard track events. Trophy number 17 - cup.


Audax and Other

Richard Elliott Trophy

The member who has taken part most in the following:

  • Club Events: Circuit of the Edge, Three Loops 100, 150, or 200 km, Langsett and back off road ride.

  • Open Events: Wild Wales Challenge, Audax events up to 300 km.

Points will be awarded for the various rides to decide the winner – see Rules 6 b (ii).

Geoff Stevenson Freewheel Trophy

The member achieving the furthest distance downhill without pedaling on an event organised as part of a Saturday Club Run.

John Marriott Veterans Merit Award

The member aged 40+ with the most meritorious achievement, as determined by the committee. This may be racing, organisation or any other special achievement.

Ted Rigby Club Runs Salver

Discretionary award to a member participating in club runs.
