ANNUAL COMPETITIONS AND AWARDS


Under 12, School Age, Junior Specific

Barker Under 12 Cyclocross Trophy

The U12 member achieving the best five placings in U12 cyclocross events.

Wesley School Age Circuit Trophy

The school age member achieving the best five placings in schoolage circuit races. Age-related events, i.e. U13, U14 & U15, can be counted but with an additional penalty point added to each placing.

Barry Lawton School Age Cyclocross Trophy

The school age member achieving the best five placings in schoolage cyclocross events.

Barry Lawton School Age 10 Mile Trophy

The schoolage member achieving the highest average speed based upon three 10-mile time trial performances.

Schoolage 25 Mile Trophy

The school age member achieving the fastest 25 mile time trial performance in the season.

School Age Track Championship

The school age member gaining the most points in the Manchester and/or Newcastle Track League in addition to those awarded for placings in open hard track racing.

Barnett-Cass Trophy (Junior BAR)

The Junior member with the highest average speed in 10 and 25 mile time trials in any club, association or open event during the current year.


Lady Specific

Ladies Best All Rounder Championship

The lady member with the fastest average speed at Time Trial distances of 10, 25 and 50 miles. Medals will be awarded to 2nd and 3rd place riders.

Ladies Championship Trophy (Ladies BAR)

The lady member with the highest average speed in 10 and 25 mile Time Trials in any Club, Association or open Event during the current year,

Ladies Handicap Championship Trophy

The lady member with the highest net average speed based on handicap times over 10, 25 and 50 mile Time Trials on J courses only.

Ladies Hill Climb Championship

The lady member gaining the highest number of points in hill climb Time Trials nominated by the Committee. Points shall be awarded to lady riders only with 50 points for the winner 49, 48, 47 etc. In the event of a tie the points shall be awarded to both riders, the next lower point will be disregarded eg 50, 49, 48, 47 for riders tying for second place. The climbs shall be timed to 1/10 second. In the event of a tie the rider with the greatest winning percentage shall be declared the winner.


Veteran Specific

Veterans Merit Award

The veteran member with the most meritorious achievement/s in the year. This may be racing, organisation or a special achievement, the winner will be decided by the committee.

Allen Clarke Senior Trophy

The veteran member with the greatest plus on VTTA standards. The distances will be 10 and 25 miles.

Veterans BAR

The veteran member with the greatest plus on VTTA standards. The distances to be 10, 25 and 50 miles.

G Oliver Veterans Road Race Trophy

The veteran (40+ years) member obtaining the highest number of points from placings in the first 10 in no more than 6 open or age related non-handicap Road Races. The counting events shall be these organised by the BC, LVRC, TLI or other organisations approved by the committee. A first place shall merit 15 points; other placings will be on a differential points system: ie 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1. Medals shall be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd.


Audax and Touring

A E Rigby Club Runs Attendance Salver

The member attaining the highest number of attendance points between 1 October and 30 September of the following year. Points will be awarded as follows: Saturday runs 1 point, Sunday runs 2 points. Points for marshalling or helping at club events etc to be at the committee’s discretion.

Geoff Stevenson Freewheel Trophy

The winner of a downhill freewheel contest held during a Saturday club run.

Saturday Club Runs

The person who in the eyes of the committee is deemed a novice rider, or someone restarting after a long lay off. The winner will be the person gaining the most points on Saturday Club runs. The person need not be a member of the club to gain points.

Richard Elliott Trophy

The member who has taken part most in the following:

Club Events: Circuit of the Edge, Three Loops, Cheshire Cycleway and/or Langsett off road ride.

Open Events: Wild Wales Challenge, Audax events up to 300 km, and/ or off road reliability rides up to 100 km.

Points will be awarded for the various rides to decide the winner – see Rules 6 b (ii).


Cyclocross

Cyclocross Championship

The member accumulating the most points in the Northwest Cyclocross League.


Mountain Bike

Annual Hill Climb Competition

The winner of an event arranged by regular attendees of the Saturday off-road club runs.

Sad Gits Trophy

The member attaining the highest number of off-road club run attendance points between 1 October and 30 September of the following year.


Circuit and Road Racing

Road Race Trophy

The member obtaining the highest number of points from placings in the first 10 in no more than six open or age-related non-handicap road races. The counting events shall be these organised by BC, LVRC, TLI or other organisations approved by the committee. A first place shall merit 15 points; other placings will be on a differential points system, i.e. 12, 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. There shall be awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

J F Parkinson Memorial Trophy

The first Macclesfield Wheeler in the annual J F Parkinson Memorial Road Race held. It cannot be won outright.

Circuit Championship

The member obtaining the highest number of points from placings in the first 10 in no more than six open circuit events during the season. The counting events shall be those that comply with the governing bodies definition of circuit races. A first place shall merit 15 points; other placings will be on a differential points system, i.e. 12, 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.


Time Trialling

Club Championship Trophy (BAR)

The member with the highest average speed at time trial distances of 10, 25 and 50 miles in Club, Association or Open events.

Handicap Championship Shield

The member with the highest net average speed based on handicap times over 25, 50 and 100 miles in the time trials on J designated courses only, except 100 miles where rides on D, K, and L courses will also count.

At the beginning of the current season the elected Handicapping Sub-Committee shall agree individual handicaps for every racing member and the handicap shall remain unchanged throughout the year. It shall be derived from the member's fastest recorded performance on a J course, or in the case of 100 miles on D, K, & L or courses also.

The Albert Brough Trophy

The best handicap performance by a member in a 50 mile time trial selected by the Committee during the current year.

Robin Parker Hill Climb Championship

The male rider gaining the highest number of points in the hill climbs nominated annually by the committee. Points shall be awarded to male riders only with 50 points for the winner 49, 48, 47 etc. In the event of a tie the points shall be awarded to both riders, the next lower point will be disregarded; e.g. 50,49,49,47 for riders tying for second place. The climbs shall be timed to 1/100 second. In the event of a tie the rider with the greatest winning percentage shall be declared the winner.

J R Peacock 25 Mile Trophy

The member with the fastest 25 mile time trial performance during the current year.

P Whitmore 10 Mile Time Trial Handicap Trophy

The member who is the overall handicap winner of the 10-mile time trial series of events (based on highest points placings in 6 events). The points awarded in an event will be 15 points for the winner down to 1 point, regardless of the number of entries.

G Wardle Memorial 50 Mile Trophy

The member with the fastest time of the year in any open or association 50-mile time trial.

May White Trophy

The fastest member in the clubs open 25-mile time trial.


Track Racing

J Webster Track Trophy

The member amassing the greatest number of league points in any one Manchester or Newcastle Track Leagues or open hard track events.
