Nothing so exotic as different time zones Mike, you have to set your time to the UTC minus 1 Time Zone option in your user control panel.

Sunday Training Ride Feb 05th Cancelled

Based on the comments already put on the forum about ice in the lanes and the snow which is now falling which will presumably will freeze tonight.

In the interests of safety I have cancelled Sunday morning training ride.

Hopefully normal service will be resumed next week.

Just got back from a run round fools nook area, theres a lot of ice on the lanes, hope nobody takes uneccassery risks. Think I'll stay off the bike for the weekend.

As you will by now have discovered, anything but light snow out here at the moment. Set off for the club run and had to turn back. Hope everyone makes it home safely.

Weds night 1st Feb training ride.

About 12 rides turned out on a very cold, though dry winter night.
It was a well disciplined chaingang, with everyone doing their fair share of turns on the front (inc. me!).

Personally, I found it an excellent ride.
If you want my opinion: please keep to this format for the rest of the winter.

Steady ride, thanks Chris and Steve. Bit frosty, still ice in water bottle an hour after getting home! I am a bit stingy with the central heating. Any thoughts on a suitable anti-freeze for these cold nights? Spot of whisky in the bottle maybe.

Easy ride - 8 riders went to Hope via Mam Nick and Mam Tor (walked up due to ice). 5 rode all the way the others started from Whalley Bridge

Chapeau to everybody that turned up this Sunday morning.

12 riders on a very cold and frosty morning.

Tatton Loop - 56.73 miles. Av Speed 18.2 mph - This route done to avoid the dreaded ice on the quieter lanes.

Big thanks to GT for keeping tabs on time on the front. We will keep this format from now on.It worked extremely well.

The whole group finished together at Broken Cross.

Only one casualty Warren - Hope you are alright? ( Consensus of the group was that the beer monster caught up with you).

Thanks to everybody so far who has put up a comment about the Wednesday night ride.

Very interesting comments!!! From those riders who think that the ride is too fast. WE WANT YOU BACK IN THE GROUP.

Please turn up for this Wednesday's night ride. The more that turn up the better. If I have to be a grumpy old man and tell people that they are going to fast I Will DO IT Constant offenders will be asked to leave the ride. ITS YOUR RIDE CLAIM IT BACK. Please be vocal if you feel its too fast shout up. The more communication we have within the group. The better the group will ride.

Here's some food for thought. Sundays training ride Jan 29th. 12 riders out. 56 .73 miles covered. AVERAGE SPEED 18.2 MPH. Every rider did a turn for the whole ride. The whole group finished together at Broken Cross.

Last Wednesday night's ride av speed 18.5mph.

Tortoise and hare comes to mind.

Easter - cycling 176 miles

Yah, we've just got our Easter weekend sorted: me and Sue are cycling the 176 mile Cheshire Cycleway over two days. Staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Chester overnight.

We've saved $7:50 on car parking fees, result!

Reward points for working in Zurich for weeks.

Yep I'll be starting at 7.05pm on the proper training ride for all those reasons given above. The rides at the moment are more akin to Fartlek training (pardon the pun Pete) which is fine if you're riding alone or in a small mutually agreeable group. In a Mark and Lard stylee - No Neeeed....

It's going the same way the previous A6 ride went (ultimately extinct), which was the main reason the lanes ride started in the first place (people wanted a chaingang style training ride).

Currently the Weds night ride is not what I want to do for my winter training; and it's too hard for me anyway. Hopefully a split will encourage riders (like me) back out.

I'll be there for a Weds training ride...
