Press Report 11 April

This week's report. Thanks to Claire for sending details.

"The Wheelers’ annual open 25 mile time trial on Saturday – organised with his customary efficiency by Steve Jackson - attracted its usual high class field. Unfortunately, for the second year in a row the event was affected by roadworks and had to be run as a 10 mile time trial on the very tough Twemlow- Chelford course. Despite this, the quality of the field and the fine weather saw many fast times with Steve Burke taking an excellent sixth place in 22.26 in his first race of the season. Kevin Walford showed that he will be a force to a reckoned with this year with a very quick 23.50 and they were followed by Roger Wrenn (24.40), Jackson (24.50), Colin Lynch (26.33) and Lynne Skellern (27.46).
Earlier in the week, Walford and Lynch had ridden the Abbotsford Park 10 mile event on the faster Monks Heath to Knutsford course. Walford finished in 23.56 and Lynch in 26.38. Wrenn completed in the Birkenhead North End “22” in 57.28.
Claire Logan opened her racing season by combining with Claire Burt from VC St Rapheal in the Crewe Clarion hilly 17 mile team time trial to record 49.01. On Sunday, Logan and Carole Sherrin rode the West Cheshire Time Trial Association 10 near Chester and came away with fast times: Logan recorded 25.24 did Sherrin 27.19."

Best day that I can remember on J2/3 and rare to see faster times than on J2/1. Spent the afternoon getting tips on photography from Chris Lees and demonstrating what a poor learner I am . Would have helped had I read the instructions for the camera as well - got confused with the modes for potraits and sports. Well I didn't have my glasses on and the symbols look very similar.........

I - and several other contributors - have just received the following email from Mike Glendenning the Sports Editor at the Macc Express:

"I'm afraid to say that, yet again, I've had a full page taken away from the Macc Express sport section on Tuesday evening, leaving me no time to try squeezing its contents onto another page, all of which were full by that time.
This is beyond my control but please accept my apologies, as I hate to see your time (as well as my own) wasted.
As this is happening all-too regularly I'll be lodging a complaint with our new bosses, so please bear with me and hopefully the situation will be sorted out soon."

I think that explains both why last week's report was buried in the middle of the darts section and why we won't be featured this week. I know that Mike does his best.
