Barry Hyde - Tour of the Edge Sunday Feb 26th

Postby Mickoc » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:57 pm

As next Sunday is Barry Hyde - Tour of the Edge ride. The Sunday training ride will be doing this route.

We will meet at Tythrington Shops - Start 9:30am.

The format will be the same as the usual Sunday ride. Steady state.

This is a tough ride and I would like the group to stay together for the whole of the ride. You are welcome to join us. Only one rule you must have mudguards and a back flap. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT RIDING WITH US WITHOUT MUDGUARDS. YOU WILL NOT BE WELCOME.

As a side note. Another great turnout this chilly Sunday morning. 12 riders. Tatton Loop. 54 miles. Av speed 18.3mph.

Hope to see you all on Sunday.

El Capitano :salut:

Thats no excuse Roger, a wealthy man like you could fly home for the event !
While you are in Denia look out for former Wheeler Geoff Burgess who lives there.

Hi John do you know his address or contact numbers. I remember Geoff from around 15 years ago.

At the risk of a backlash Alex there has been plenty of summer bikes among the faster group in previous years. I understand Micks comment and if I am honest would prefer those I ride with to have mudguards (if its wet or raining). I guess it depends on who you plan on riding with and what the weather holds.

Hi Keith,

I cant help with the timings, last year is still a haze, but their is a route map under the "events" section of the forum from February last year which should give you an idea of the route.

Thanks Chris,
Just had a look ; 80km or thereabouts.

By the way, is the meeting point just off the main road(A538) into Mac (at some traffic lights near a Shell garage) or some other shops !!! I would be coming over via the Brickworks / Bollington.

Cheers

Attached are pdf copies of the 2012 Route Map and Description. Please note that with the opening of the Alderley Edge by-pass we can revert to the original route that goes straight on at the bottom of Artists Lane across the A34 into Welsh Row.

9.30 Start from the shops at the Tytherington Lights Junction A538 and Brocklehurst Way.

Yes it is.
Please note a short version is available. This starts at the same time and place but misses the Bollington loop.
